MovaCue Privacy Policy
MovaCue plays local video files selected by the user. It sends only the audio segments or caption text required for an AI caption feature to the external provider selected by the user, and only after the user enables that feature. Normal video playback does not require AI features, an API key, or consent to external transmission.
1. Data We Process
| Local video files | Used for playback, extracting audio segments, and calculating caption timing. The complete video file is not uploaded to the developer's server. |
|---|---|
| Audio for AI captions | When the user starts live AI captions, full caption generation, or remaining-segment generation, required audio segments may be sent to the selected provider. |
| External caption text | After the user confirms translation of an SRT, VTT, LRC, ASS, or SSA file, caption text and timing may be sent to a translation provider. For ASS and SSA, only Dialogue text and timing are processed; style, position, karaoke effects, shapes, and images are not imported. |
| Generated, translated, or edited captions | Used for display, reuse, search, editing, synchronization, export, and issue-report preparation. They may be stored in the app's private storage on the device. |
| Translation hints | User-provided glossary terms or context notes may be stored in the app and sent to the selected provider when an AI generation or translation task starts. |
| API keys | Provider API keys entered by the user, including Speechmatics, AssemblyAI, and Cerebras keys, are stored in encrypted device storage and used to authenticate provider requests. They are not sent to the developer's server. |
| Settings and task history | Language, provider preset, cost limits, caption display settings, recent caption searches, task status, failure codes, and estimated cost may be stored in the app's private storage. |
| Advertising and consent data | In ad-supported builds, the Google Mobile Ads SDK and Google User Messaging Platform may process advertising identifiers, device or account identifiers, IP-derived approximate location, app interactions, diagnostics, ad impressions, clicks, and reward events for ad delivery, measurement, frequency controls, fraud prevention, consent, and privacy options. |
2. Transfers to External Providers
The app communicates with an external provider only when the user enables an AI feature and the required consent and API key are available. Depending on the feature, audio chunks, transcript text, caption cues, translation prompts, target language, and translation hints may be sent to Speechmatics, AssemblyAI, or Cerebras.
Audio and caption text may contain personal or sensitive information. Each provider applies its own terms, privacy policy, retention policy, and pricing policy. Usage may be charged to the user's provider account or project.
3. AI Caption Reports and Feedback
MovaCue uses a mailto: handoff to prepare email reports for AI-generated saved captions. Reports are not sent automatically. The user reviews the recipient, subject, and body in their email app and sends the message themselves.
A report may contain a report ID, time range, language pair, one selected AI-generated caption, its source snapshot when available, the selected reason, and an optional note. It does not include the video or audio file, file URI or path, API key, complete captions, raw provider response, or app logs.
Reports and privacy questions may be sent to butterknife87@gmail.com. If an email is sent, the sender's email address and message may remain with the user's email provider and in the developer's mailbox.
4. Storage, Deletion, and Control
The app does not provide a separate user account. Users can delete the app's private on-device data through Android system settings or by uninstalling the app.
The deletion screen in app settings can delete stored API keys, translation hints, AI caption data for the current video, all AI caption data, AI task history, and recent caption-list searches. This does not delete local video files, the original provider account key, data already sent to a provider, provider usage or billing records, exported files, Android clipboard contents, or report emails held by an email provider or the developer.
To request deletion of a report or inquiry from the developer's mailbox, contact butterknife87@gmail.com. Limited information may be retained where required by law or necessary for security or dispute handling.
5. Security
- API keys are stored with AndroidX Security Crypto and Android Keystore-backed encryption.
- Generated captions and settings are stored in Room and DataStore inside the Android app sandbox.
- App backup is disabled through Android manifest and data extraction rules.
- External provider communications use HTTPS or WSS endpoints.
- Email report payloads are limited to reduce exposure of sensitive patterns.
6. Advertising, Analytics, and Payments
Ad-supported builds use the Google Mobile Ads SDK and Google User Messaging Platform. When ad requests are allowed, Google or AdMob may process advertising identifiers, device identifiers, IP-derived approximate location, app interactions, diagnostics, impressions, clicks, and reward events for ad delivery, measurement, frequency controls, fraud prevention, consent, and privacy options.
Users can revisit available choices through the advertising privacy settings in the app. The app does not upload its internal ad-exposure verification state to the developer's server. Google and AdMob process advertising data under Google's policies and the user's advertising settings.
The app currently does not include a separate analytics SDK or crash-reporting SDK. If one is added, this policy and the Google Play Data safety declaration will be updated.
The app does not sell provider API keys. Provider API usage may be billed under the user's provider account or project. Google Play Billing requirements will be reviewed before any paid digital app feature is introduced.
7. Children and High-Stakes Use
The app is not directed to children. AI-generated captions may be inaccurate or inappropriate. Do not rely on them alone for legal, medical, safety, financial, or other high-stakes decisions; consult the original content and qualified professionals.
8. Changes
This policy will be updated when app features, providers, SDKs, retention or deletion behavior, report submission, account features, or payment methods change.
